FAQ

Who can enter the competition?

The competition is open to members of Kent Scouts. Young climbers will be a member of a scout troop or an explorer unit within Kent. Adult climbers will hold an active role within scouting in Kent.

What skill level do I need to be?

There is no need to be an experienced climber to compete. However, we advise that they have at least climbed at a centre before. This wouldn't be suitable as a first climbing experience.

How hard will the climbs be?

We want everyone to enjoy the friendly competition, so while we will have challenging routes, we hope that most competitors will be able to climb some of all the routes. The routes will be set for the different categories, varying from Grade 5 to 6a+ for scouts. Then 6a to 6c+for explorers and adults (this is a rough guess as they will not be set till the comp date)

Do I have to bring my own kit?

No. We can provide all the necessary equipment for the competition. If you have your own equipment a competition official will check any PPE for safe use.

Does my group have to book for me?

No this is open for individuals to book on outside of their group.

Can I bring my whole group?

If you would like your group to hold a competition, we can accommodate this as a private session. This is aimed at individual across the scouting community.

Can I come by myself?

All competitors under the age of 18 will need to attend with an adult. This can be parent, guardian, scout leader etc.

I need additional support, what can you offer?

We try to be as adaptable as possible at our centre. Our team are experienced in working with a wide range of needs and finding the best fit for including all. If you have any questions or a specific need the best thing to do is discuss it with us. Contact our office via email: bookings@kentscouts.org.uk or call in office hours: 01622 397070

Can I help with the event?
